Welcomed Corruption

Clip: "Pool vanishes but ah!/ It is in her now and singing through green plant veins."

Explanation:Well, this poem is about sex but other things as well. It's about submitting to my desires and choosing that path on my own, not because of peer pressure, and that even though I am hesitant about it, I'm unashamed. (And yes, though I am a virgin, it can still be about sex.)

Lucky

Clip: "Pleasure and pain,/become one and the same."

Explanation:This poem is an attempt to show my dual feelings about my eczema. I hate it with a passion but also, I feel grateful to it because it gives me experience, knowledge, and even pleasure. I would never wish that I hadn't gotten it but rather that I had gotten it and instead triumphed over it and tamed it.

Lost Ticket

Clip: "She's going down a road I can't follow./ She's boarding a plane without me./ I packed my bags because she packed hers."

Explanation:Basically, it's about how I feel that my sister is leaving me behind.

Smooth-Faced Liar

Clip: "Swept away in a flood of fantasies/Authored by a smooth-faced liar"

Explanation:No, this is not written from my perspective. It is for my sister. I wrote it because her fiance broke it off with her and she's feeling extremely "down".

Against My will

Clip: "You tripped me./And now I fall, faster and faster."

Explanation: I wrote this poem sometime in late 2006 or early 2007. I have edited it many times, adding rhyme, among other things. Even so, I believe it stays true to what it began as.

Bare Feet

Clip: "She sneaks from her grandmother's house, to make her trek in the snow."

Explanation: I wrote this because I had a sudden memory of a snow year from when I was a kid. We were staying at my grandma's house, up the hill from us because we didn't have any heat. I left my shoes at home so, subborn as ever, I walked home in the snow. However, the door was locked so I never got them and had to walk back.

Beneath Us

Clip: "But we are not like our ancient copper-toned brothers./We do not run as or with the antelope."

Explanation:This poem was forming in my head for about a week before I finally decided I had to write it down. I don't feel as if I've finished it yet, it feels as if there's so much more I want to add to it, I just don't know how to say it. Basically, it was written in anger and shame for how we have destroyed our own world and how people still refuse to fix the damage or at least stop it. I also feel as if there is a longing in it to return the earth to how it was.

Big Bertha

Explanation:This "poem" is actually a song that three other girls and I wrote for our English II class. It was intended to be funny and it's not about anyone in specific. (Also, it's a rap.)

Greet The Dawn

Clip: "Yes, here is that elusive sun - its rays,/It calls to the ants, to all things alive:"

Explanation:I wrote this poem for my Creative Writing class. It is probably one of my favorite poems that I've written. To me, it just feels so...hopeful and worshipful.

Home

Clip: "Juice dripping down my fingers/As I bathe in the full moon's empty cradles"

Explanation:This poem was the result of a project at Creative Writing camp. Not all of these parts are mine, such as "Sounds spilling out like blood from an open wound;". The project was to get a notecard and write down our response to a question the teacher asked, then pass the card to our right and write down our response to the next question on the new card, ect. Though I cannot claim this full poem, I still feel as if it's mine. I did write it, afterall.

Petals

Explanation:This haiku is also from my Creative Writing class. Though I love it, as I love all of my poems, there isn't much more to say.

Same

Clip: "Deny everything because,/It never happened."

Explanation:At heart, this is an emo poem, but I have disguised it as best I could. Result of a breakup with the only guy I have come close to loving.

Shameful

Clip: "Inconsolable as I sway,/Like a mad-woman./Eyes and head bowed in shame,"

Explanation:This one was also a result of the breakup mentioned above. Possibly one of my most favorite poems.
